Durability of Colourquartz Crystals

Colourquartz Crystals combine the strength of nature with the power of technology. Quartz, one of nature's hardest minerals, is bonded with an exterior ceramic coating. This coating - which contains inorganic pigments - gives each Colourquartz Crystal its brilliant colour and durability making it ideal for decorative concrete surfacing and concrete resurfacing. The crystal colour is guaranteed for 30 years by 3M.

Quartz is one of the hardest minerals on the planet. The scale below shows that it is harder than steel. When coated and kiln-fired, it creates an extremely tough material, capable of withstanding the harshest environmental conditions

Slip Resistance Classification

The test results indicated that the sample, when tested in accordance with AS/NZS 4586.2004 achieved a Mean British Pendulum Number (BPN) of 55. To see certificate click here. The minimum required under the Australian Standard for pedestrian walkways is between 45 and 54.

The sample therefore achieved a classification of "Class V" in accordance with Table 2 of AS 4586 and may be considered to to have a "Very Low" contribution to the floor surface to the risk of slipping when wet.
